April 2018 Behind these doors
One of the loveliest things of walking around the castle is catching glimpses of front doors in the historical village of Portchester itself.
The pub’s good too.
Ships lanterns, ships bells and iron door knockers furnish the entrance ways.
Thatched roofs sit on wonky walls. Iron railings and gabled doors.
The castle Bakery dates back to 1705. Presuming no 190 was the old post office.
Shame I didn’t catch Wisteria Cottage in flowering season.
